I did an HP update on my printer last week that I had been putting off, and now EVERY morning when I come into work the display on the printer has black and white bars on it. the only way I can clear it is to unplug the printer? I also think it is not receiving or sending faxes ?

I would suggest you to remove the printer drivers for the from the Programs and Features and also remove the printer from the printer list (Printers and Devices) and reinstall the latest printer drivers software from the hp support website. The issue may be due to some errors might have occurred while updating the drivers
