I have recently replaced the ink cartridge of my printer; the ink level is still registered as empty and needs to be replaced.

Try removing your new cartridges from the printer and clean the interface on the printer where the cartridge connects to the printer. Clean it with a rubbing alcohol. Avoid using paper products like paper towels and they can leave behind debris.
