My Epson printer WF-2750 will not photocopy, the error message reads: “The Paper Source Setting Is Invalid”
Just started not being able to copy [The Paper Source Setting Is Invalid] on my one year old (almost to the day!) Epson WF-2750. I tried many ideas, but the one that finally worked for me was changing from borderless to BORDER!
Thank YOU for advice about “with border” to print document. It worked!
I have an Epson printer and it really works well, where to buy an original ink for my printer.
open printer Setup and change paper type from plain to matte settings. This has worked for me.
thanks a ton. worked for me too
thanks so much. was on the phone with epson over an hour then they told me i’d have to pay $200 to fix!!!!! Changing paper to matte worked!
Did not work for me, even re-installing did not work, see it as a Epson deliberate build in fault to get extra repair charges. However he goes monday in the bin and will be replaced with an HP.
I have been having the same issue and have not found a solution yet but will keep searching, this is an irritating issue that needs to be fixed
Changing the paper type to matte worked for us, too!
The only problem is that it uses a ton of ink and prints everything like a photo. I hate this POS printer and would never buy another one. Getting it to make a *God forbid* copy….that’s a huge order for this piece of worthless plastic.
Did not work.
I have the same cannot even get Mat paper, have to throw this one in the bin where Epson should be to start with. Called Epsom was left in the phone for 21 minutes and say that it could be repaired at a costs. Hence seeing all the comment it is a Epson fix to get extra money.
For my Epson printer “the paper source setting is invalid” i got help from a friend. He forwarded me this steps and it worked for me. The borderless settings did for me.
Under Settings, make sure you select the following:
If you’re copying letter size paper:
Set the Layout to With Border.
Set Document Size to Letter.
If you’re copying a photo:
Set the Layout to Borderless or With Border.
JANE worked perfectly – I was getting not just this error message but also my stuff was coming out landscape no matter how many times I tried to set it to portrait! And yes, Windows 10 did update last night. THANK YOU!!!!
Jane – You’re my hero! Adding the “with border” selection is what worked for me. Woo! Hoo! Now, if someone would tell me how to get the damn thing to print from my Mac that I updated to Mojave from High Sierra, that would be totally lovely. Everything worked great with High Sierra, and it all went to shit with Mojave. I’ve followed all the Apple solutions, as well as the Epson ones, with no joy. This sucks! Thank you!
Thak you so much I had the same error reading and this worked putting with border !!!!
Just tried did not work.
These are basically my settings already, but I’m still getting this message.
Hey Jane. thank you for the tip. i had intermittent issue regarding my epson printer paper source settings is invalid. the borderless trick worked for me too. Thanks a Ton
No help from the epson support. Each time there is a windows update or some updates on my PC this error message “paper source setting is invalid” pops up. So basically i have to spend another precious 30 minutes to change the settings back to normal or reinstall the drivers. This sucks. Going to sell this useless epson printer and get any other printer that does not give me a headache everytime.
They make great doorstops or boat anchors.
I had this issue after an update. Epson support told me it was a Windows issue and to get help from Windows Support. I told them it was obviously an Epson software issue and asked where I could download older drivers. No help at all. Luckily I found this solution.
Epson is useless with tech issues. When I had problems with other equipment drivers (tablets, etc.) the companies were always glad to hear of issues and made fixes or updated drivers to correct things. Not Epson.
I have just experienced this problem today. Nothing is working. I have changed the settings to with border, a4/ letter, Matt and still the same message.
Finally found the solution, your suggestion to change the paper type from plain to matte settings worked for the paper source setting is invalid error. Thanks
I have tried it all and paper source setting is invalid for my epson wf-2750
I am using a different epson printer model wf 2630. Can i use the same steps for paper source setting is invalid for this model? Or the settings is different for this model? Please help
Thanks. Worked for us too for our epson wf 2630 paper source setting is invalid error
Even the epson technical support was not able to help me with this. The tried everything and it still showed paper source setting is invalid. However when i saw this and changed from plain to matte settings, it worked. thanks
even when i changed it to matte it still didnt work like we have tried eveything im thinking about taking it back bc this dont make no sense
The simple solution, sell it on ebay with the notification that it prints but does not photo copy, and then buy a real printer, like HP or something.
I have a epson wf 2630 printer and it is giving the same problem paper source setting is invalid error
Had the same problem and was told not to use ‘borderless’ works fine now. Was using ADF.
I had the same problem and as a silver top and not very tech minded, it cause me a lot of frustration. The use ‘Borderless’ worked find and I am very grateful for the advice, but what a let down for Epsom.

Have tried it three times, no result,
Wanting to make several copies means using the automatic document feeder (ADF)
So for me the only answer that worked was given by Jane.
This is ridiculous. This is a copier! the simplest task should be to make a copy!
Never will I by Epson again. Next printer will be an HP unless I find something better.
These steps aren’t helpful because they don’t explain that you CAN ONLY COPY ONTO PLAIN PAPER ON THIS PRINTER! PERIOD, END OF STORY!
I’m only trying to copy to plain paper, and it’s still not working. My setting is stuck on glossy, premier. When I try to change it sometimes, it does, but most times it hasn’t and it still isn’t allowing me to copy anything. May I also add, Epson support said they’d call me yesterday. I waited all evening to no avail.
Will never buy Epson anything again ! Off to get new printer. Life is just too short to mess about with Epson !!
Just fixed this paper source is invalid problem today. When I get a Windows Update this happens to my Epson WF-2630. Here is what fixed it. Scan a document, go to your computer. Find it in the documents, (mine came up as a photo) Bring up the app. when I tried to print the photo it said at the top “let Windows Manage the apps”. I changed it to OFF. Then it gave me the option to change the type of paper and my printer worked again and to even make copies. So pick an app in the computer to print and you’ll find how to change the paper source!!
Thanks so much!! Changing to matte fixed it. I have had many Epson printers through the years, but I am so unhappy with this one. Thankfully, didn’t pay much for it. Plus, these days printers are really disposable items. Not worth fixing…just buy a new one.
Changing to matte paper sort of works; I still have to cofirm choice on printer to get it to print one-sided only. This printer was a mistake.
trying to copy 20 pages of a form application. finally after reading all the comments changed to matte and it actually started to copy. THIS IS JUNK AND EVERYONE SHOULD SEND THEM BACK TO EPSON ASKING FOR A REFUND. it takes 3 min 5 seconds to make one copy
EPSON SUCKS! Have to use MATTE paper type in order to copy and uses a tremendous amount of ink.
This is the STUPIDEST PRINTER in the world! The problem is that the printer will NOT PHOTOCOPY onto anything BUT plain paper. If you want to copy onto matte or glossy paper, you must select “plain” paper. Period, end of story. If you want to “COPY” onto photo paper, you must SCAN the document first, and then PRINT it onto the matte or glossy paper. This is from the Epson web site*: “The product supports copying on PLAIN PAPER in these sizes: Letter (8.5 x 11 inches), A4 (8.3 x 11.7 inches), and Legal (8.5 x 14 inches).” (caps mine). For saving ink, this isn’t an unreasonable choice from an engineering standpoint, but EPSON has done a shitty job of explaining this issue in both the user interface *and* the EPSON documentation! I bought this printer mainly to copy physical photos onto photo paper. This just isn’t possible with this printer; I have to scan each photo and then print it onto glossy paper. You can just select “plain” paper and then copy onto photo paper (matte or glossy) to try to work around this problem, but the printer won’t use the correct amount of ink or the right speed (dry time between lines), and the image quality isn’t very good!
The worst part of this was trying to figure it out. The user interface for this printer is absolutely abysmal. It’s the worst interface I’ve ever seen on a printer! The documentation doesn’t really make this clear, and the EPSON tech support are largely clueless and don’t know to explain this to customers!
