Managing Amazon subscriptions can be confusing because Amazon offers multiple subscription services — Prime, Kindle Unlimited, Audible, Music Unlimited, Prime Video Channels, and Subscribe & Save — each with its own cancellation path. Whether you want to cancel Amazon Prime to stop the annual or monthly charge, end a Kindle Unlimited trial, or remove unwanted Prime Video channel subscriptions, this guide walks you through each one.
All Amazon subscriptions can be cancelled through the Amazon website or mobile app. Most cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period, and some may qualify for a refund.
Go to Amazon.com > Account & Lists > Memberships & Subscriptions. Find the subscription you want to cancel and click Cancel. This works for Prime, Kindle Unlimited, and most other Amazon subscriptions.
Method 1: Cancel Amazon Prime Membership
Amazon Prime is Amazon's flagship subscription ($14.99/month or $139/year). Here is how to cancel it on desktop and mobile.
Go to Prime Membership Settings
Visit amazon.com/prime and sign in. Click Manage Membership in the top-right area, then select Update, cancel and more.
Select End Membership
Click End Membership and Benefits. Amazon will show you a summary of benefits you will lose (free shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music, etc.).
Confirm Cancellation
Amazon presents multiple retention offers — "Remind me before renewing," "Pause membership," or "Continue to cancel." Click through to Cancel my membership. You may need to click through 2-3 confirmation pages.
Choose End Date
Select whether to end immediately or at the end of your billing period. If you have not used Prime benefits since your last payment, you may be eligible for a full refund when ending immediately.
Tip: If you cancel Prime but have already paid for the year, choose "End at billing period" to keep benefits until the expiration date. You will not be charged again.
Method 2: Cancel Kindle Unlimited Subscription
Kindle Unlimited ($11.99/month) gives you access to over 4 million ebooks. Cancel it separately from Prime — they are independent subscriptions.
Go to Kindle Unlimited Settings
Visit amazon.com/ku/options or navigate to Account & Lists > Memberships & Subscriptions > Kindle Unlimited.
Cancel Subscription
Click Cancel Kindle Unlimited. You will see a reminder of when your access expires. Borrowed books are automatically returned when the subscription ends.
Confirm
Click Cancel Subscription on the confirmation page. You retain access until the current billing period ends.
Method 3: Cancel Audible Membership
Audible membership ($14.95/month for 1 credit) must be cancelled through the Audible website — not the Amazon app. Credits you have already earned do not expire upon cancellation, but unused credits expire after cancellation.
Go to Audible Account Details
Visit audible.com/account and sign in with your Amazon credentials. You cannot cancel Audible through the Amazon website or app — it must be done on Audible's site.
Select Cancel Membership
Scroll down to the Membership section and click Cancel membership. Audible will offer alternatives like downgrading to a cheaper plan or pausing your membership for 1-3 months.
Use Credits Before Cancelling
If you have unused credits, use them before cancelling — purchased books are yours to keep forever, but unused credits expire when your membership ends.
Confirm Cancellation
Click through the retention offers and confirm. You keep access to purchased audiobooks permanently, even after cancelling.
Method 4: Cancel Prime Video Channels and Subscribe & Save
Prime Video Channels (HBO Max, Showtime, Starz, etc.) and Subscribe & Save deliveries are separate subscriptions billed through Amazon.
Cancel Prime Video Channels
Go to Amazon.com > Account & Lists > Memberships & Subscriptions. Under Prime Video Channels, find the channel you want to cancel and click Cancel Channel. Access continues until the end of the billing period.
Cancel Subscribe & Save Items
Go to Amazon.com > Account & Lists > Subscribe & Save. Select the item you want to cancel and click Cancel subscription. You can also skip the next delivery or change the delivery frequency instead of cancelling entirely.
Cancel Amazon Music Unlimited
Go to Amazon.com > Account & Lists > Memberships & Subscriptions > Amazon Music Unlimited Settings. Click Cancel Subscription and confirm. Downloaded music for offline listening will be removed.
Important: Cancelling Amazon Prime does not cancel Prime Video Channels, Kindle Unlimited, or Audible. Each subscription must be cancelled individually. Check your Memberships & Subscriptions page for all active charges.
